FERP Panogram

Sound Localization FERP from David Kant on Vimeo.

In collaboration with David Dunn’s Environmental Sound Lab, I am developing strategies to record, reproduce, and analyze large environmental soundscapes. This past spring I led a group of students on a field trip to the UCSC Forest Ecology Research Plot (FERP), where we recorded a 400 x 400 meter forest plot using a grid of nine time-synchronized microphones. Panogram is a tool that I developed to localize sound in 2-d space across the FERP.
